Sanzhar Zhamalov appointed as the new Country Manager of Mastercard in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. His area of responsibility includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Previously, Mr. Zhamalov was the Head of Representative Office of ING Bank N.V. in Kazakhstan.

The main task of Mr. Zhamalov will be to stimulate the company’s business growth in the countries of the region, strengthening cooperation with partners – banks and government agencies, development new partnerships.

“I am excited to take on my new responsibilities at Mastercard. The payment sector is developing at a tremendous pace in Central Asia, and I hope that my previous experience and knowledge will benefit not only the company, but also Kazakhstan and the countries of the region. Rafal Trepka, former Country Manager of Mastercard Central Asia, as previously announced, will focus on leading the Mastercard Customer Solution Centre, Mastercard's regional hub in the CIS region.

Sanzhar Zhamalov has extensive experience in financial and TMT sectors, including Kazkommerts Securities JSC, Kazakhtelecom JSC, London office of ING Bank N.V. (UK), the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the Representative Office of ING Bank N.V. in Kazakhstan, where he was promoted to the position of head of the representative office.

He holds an Executive MBA from the University of Cambridge (UK), a Master's degree in International Financial Analysis from the University of Newcastle (UK) and a BSc in Financial Mathematics from Charles University (Czech Republic). Moreover, he holds the prestigious financial certificate CFA and Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (UK).
